In the earlier 1960s, The Beatles started by playing gigs in clubs in Germany and Liverpool. It had been at the Cavern Club in Liverpool where they were spotted by manager Brian Epstein. This individual secured them their first major record deal with Parlophone (after a great many other record companies like Decca had switched them down)
